John (83—95)
John Maiden
Covenant student 1983—1995
I finished at Covenant in the mid-90s and after A-Levels read History at the University of Manchester, before then completing a PhD in the same subject at the University of Stirling.
I am now a lecturer in Religious Studies, specialising in twentieth century British religious history, at the Open University. I have published quite widely in this area, particularly on British evangelicalism
Covenant was an excellent place for learning and friendship, and undoubtedly had a formative influence as I was growing up. It encouraged pupils to think Christianly about learning and vocation. My faith remains a very important aspect of my life, including my work as a historian.
