Covenant Christian School began because a group of Christians, who had met regularly
for five years to study education in the light of the Bible, came to believe that
they could not bring their children up "in the training and instruction of the Lord"
within the existing education system. The school they founded opened in March 1981
with a team of four parents teaching three five year-
By the middle of 1985 the building could not hold the growing number of children but God graciously provided a new and larger home, a Victorian house in Heaton Moor with outbuildings that could be converted into classrooms.
Eight years later our oldest pupils, including some who had joined us in our first year, reached the age of 16 and for the first time our pupils were taking their GCSE examinations. We have many testimonies from families on the benefits of the school.
Her Majesty's Inspectors have visited us several times and given us very positive feedback on all aspects of the school. The latest report arose from an Ofsted inspection in February 2004.
Recently the school community has decided to spread its wings. We want to have more accommodation available so we can serve more families than we do at present. As a first step we have temporarily rented buildings at the back of St Andrews Church in Cheadle Hulme.
It is our vision that, together with other Christian schools in Manchester, we make Christian education available for many more families.
